Overview

The Government Banking Relationship Officer proactively supports and expands existing government and education client relationships through routine calling activity and relationship management while independently identifying and developing new government relationships through targeted business development activities within assigned public-sector markets.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in market research, networking, and prospecting activities to identify new government and education client prospects.
  • Represent the Bank to government banking clients in a courteous and professional manner while maintaining a high standard of ethical and compliant conduct.
  • Provide prompt, efficient and accurate service in processing requests and transactions in accordance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Independently develop new government banking client relationships through proactive outreach, needs assessment, and solution-based selling.
  • Build a quality external network of government relationships within targeted markets including municipalities, school districts, authorities, and other public entities.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with Bank’s other business lines and operating departments to deliver an integrated and seamless experience for government clients and coordinate product and service solutions.
  • Establish exceptional rapport with clients to identify needs and opportunities, present product solutions, overcome objections and close the sale by asking for the business while meeting assigned business development and relationship goals.
  • Participate in community activities that match clients’ interests and allow for opportunities to expand government relationships and enhance the Bank’s visibility in the public sector.
  • Represent the bank at various civic, private and community functions to enhance its image and develop additional business with government clients.
  • Achieve outstanding performance by providing superior relationship banking and client experience and by meeting or exceeding established performance, growth and revenue targets.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. business or finance) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of outsides sales or relationship management experience or public sector / government environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated success in outside sales, proactive prospecting, and business development.
  • Self-motivated to enhance existing relationships and exceed sales goals with the ability to work independently.
  • Able to build strong relationships with teammates and business partners across multiple lines of business.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Perform routine and typical tasks of an office such as typing, taking notes, reading/reviewing, computer work, filing, copying, answering phones, etc. that may require employee to view, stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch and lift. This position requires regular local travel to other locations or client sites for training and attending meetings.

 

The successful candidate will be required to prove on the first day of work that they are legally authorized to work in the U.S. The Bank will not sponsor a candidate for a visa or for work authorization.

 

COMPENSATION:  $70,000 to $105,000
